Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced on Tuesday that the state is planning to give away lottery tickets and gift certificates to people willing to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Anyone vaccinated beginning May 25th will have a choice of winning an Arkansas Lottery Scholarship $20 scratch-off ticket or a $20 gift certificate for use with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. You are not eligible for either of these if you have already received your vaccine. The scratch-off ticket maximum prize is $1 million while the AGFC gift certificates can be used to purchase fishing or hunting licenses. Total cost for the state on these purchases equals roughly $2 million. Hutchinson said that Arkansas has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country with about 39% of its population having gotten at least 1 dose of the vaccine.
