COVID-19 update

The number of COVID-19 cases both locally and across Arkansas is up over 50 percent as of the last month, due to a new sub-variant of omicron that has been making its way through the state

According to nationwide data Arkansas is currently the highest in the nation for COVID-19 spread. The number of cases grew by over 8,600 on July 26— which is the largest one-day jump in new cases since January.

According to the Arkansas Department of Health, the state’s death toll for the virus is currently at 11,678. The number of hospitalized patients is now at 418, which is its highest level since early March.

Locally, the Arkansas Department of Health is reporting 108 active cases in Howard County as of last week. In Pike County, there are 23 cases being reported. There are a total of 110 cases in Hempstead County and 43 in Nevada County. In Sevier County there are a total of 114 active cases and 76 active cases in Little River County.
