Howard County Court

Howard County Court met this week seeing 17 year old Christopher Lee Brown of Texarkana. Brown stole a vehicle on or about April 30th and was witnessed by an off duty Nashville police officer to be driving recklessly southbound on Mt Pleasant Dr. Nashville PD was made aware of the situation and upon locating the vehicle identified it as stolen and attempted a traffic stop. Brown, who was later identified to be driving the vehicle, fled from law enforcement leading them through town down South 4th street. Upon reaching Wal Mart, Brown, attempted to turn into the parking lot but ended up striking a utility pole, knocking the pole down, which then landed on the vehicle he was driving. Brown fled on foot as far as the Animal Shelter on HIghway 27 where he was then taken into custody. Brown pled Guilty on Wednesday and was sentenced to 5 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections, 5 years suspended, court costs, and a credit to jail time served.

47 year old Christopher Dougan was also in court this week. Dougan faced 2 felony counts. 1 for possession of a controlled substance and 2nd for possession of drug paraphernalia. Dougan came before a jury of his peers this week who upon hearing Dougan’s testimony found him guilty on both felony charges. Dougon was sentenced to 4 years within the Arkansas Department of Corrections on both counts
