Howard County JPs updated on computer hack situation

The Howard County Quorum Court held their regular meeting last week.

County Treasurer Sheri Mixon couldn’t provide a full report on finances due to computer hacking issues.

Mixon provided an update to the Quorum Court on what’s been going on with their servers.

Howard County is one of 63 counties in Arkansas to be affected by a computer hack that was first reported Saturday, November 5th. The computer servers that were hacked belong to Apprentice Information Systems. Every office in Howard County government, with the exception of the Collector’s office, has been affected.

During the disruption, county employees have maintained handwritten documentation of their transactions. No personal information, such as bank accounts, are believed to have been breached locally.

County officials are in daily contact with banks to make sure there hasn’t been an outside attempt to remove funds
