It’s Severe Weather Awareness Week in Arkansas

Beginning today, Arkansas enters its peak severe weather season. While severe weather can impact us at anytime,  March through May are typically the the months to see the largest number of severe weather events in the state.  According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock,  last year’s severe weather season produced 35 tornadoes in Arkansas.  There were 25 instances of hurricane force winds in the state, along with several occurrences of flash flooding last year.  One death was attributed to the flooding last year in Arkansas.

Governor Asa Hutchinson has proclaimed this week as Severe Weather Awareness week and is urging Arkansans to familiarize themselves with their location and to have a plan of where you would go should severe weather threaten your area.
