June weather report

The month of June finished above normal on rainfall within the city of Nashville, despite no appreciable rain occurring in the last three weeks of the month.  Last month had 4.67 inches of rain reported, which is more than four tenths of an inch below normal.  Nearly 4 and a half inches of last month’s total rainfall took place within the first 10 days of June.  Since June 11th, Nashville has picked up less than two tenths of an inch of rain, which is leading to an increase in drought conditions & a rising wildfire danger.

Through the first half of 2022, Nashville recorded 30 inches of rain, which was 6 tenths of an inch above normal for the year to date.

Last month also brought the first temperature reading of at least 100 degrees in nearly three years.  A high of 102 was observed on June 26th, which was the first triple digit temperature in Nashville since September 2019.  It also represented the hottest day since a reading of 105 degrees took place July 20th, 2018.

The coolest temperature was month was noted on the morning of June 29th, at 59 degrees.
