Legacy Junior Boys Win Big in Tournament Play Defeat Trinity Christian 54-15

HOT SPRINGS, ARK—Legacy Academy’s Junior Boys basketball team travelled to Hot Springs to begin HCAA state tournament play. The Association hosted games at multiple sites Monday and Tuesday, as teams advance through the brackets all in hopes of securing a state title. Legacy was first to put points on the board and outscored the Trinity Christian of Texarkana 12-6 in the first quarter. Legacy tightened up their defense in the second quarter, shutting down the Texarkana team 17-0. This gave the Lockesburg boys a 29-6 lead at halftime. The Warriors outscored Trinity 16-5 and 10-4 in the third and fourth quarter. Legacy’s boys gave a full team with great shots and strong defense. Everrette Martz led scoring with 14 points, followed by 7 from Manolo Vazquez. Eli Mitchell, Brayson Talley, Noah Grubbs, and Malachi Davis had 6 points, followed by 5 from Jude Gallagher, and 4 from James Bartek. Talley led with 7 rebounds, while Vazquez and Gabe Cox each grabbed six boards. Eli Wahl gave Trinity 14 of their 15 points, including 4 three pointers. The Warriors’ next tournament game Is against Fayetteville Christian on Friday.
