Legacy Takes 3 of 4 Game at Home against Garrett Memorial
Legacy Academy hosted Hope’s Garrett Memorial Christian School in HCAA basketball play Tuesday night. It was a four game night with both junior and both senior teams playing games. Legacy took three of the four games played. In Senior boys’ action the Warriors handily defeated Garrett 78-20.
Senior Ethan Gallagher led with 27 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 13 steals. Layne Schroer gave the Warriors 20 points and 13 rebounds. Eli Mitchell gave the Warriors 9 points, followed by 8 from Everrette Martz, while eighth grader Jude Gallagher got on the board with 5 points, after subbing into the game in the 4th quarter for few minutes play time with his senior brother. James Bartek had 3, while Eli Hamilton, Ozzy Tolendano, and Manolo Vazquez rounded out scoring with two points each. Garrett’s junior Tre Alexander led his team with 17 points. The Warriors improve their season record to 21-4 with the win.
In Senior girls’ play the Lady Warriors dropped the game to the Lady Saints 55-43. Oaklee Lofton and Dori Bartek led the Lockesburg girls’ with 18 and 15 points respectively. Mercy Hagler provided the home team 6 points and 6 rebounds, while Lilly Tucker led rebounds with 7 boards and two points. Maddie Lowrey rounded out scoring with two points. Katie Alexander gave the Lady Saints 35 of their 55 points.
Both of Legacy’s senior teams play on Thursday night when they host Mineral Springs in Lockesburg at 530pm.
Legacy’s junior boys overwhelmed Hope’s junior Saints with a 45-11 final score in favor of the Warriors. Jude Gallagher led scoring for the junior home team with 16 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Silas Lofton followed with 13 points, including 3 three-pointers. Justise Burton and Manolo Vasquez each gave the team 8 points. Brandy Edward led the junior Saints with 7 points. Legacy’s junior boys are right back on the court in Umpire Wednesday against Dierks in the Umpire Junior Tournament.
The night was opened up with a junior girls’ game where the junior Lady Warriors defeated the junior Lady Saints 33-23. Seventh grader Libbie Bartek wowed the crowd with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Olivia Lofton contributed the team’s other 4 points. Izzy Ward also had 4 rebounds and 6th grader Vivian Garner provided exemplary defensive play for Legacy’s ladies. Silbi Jones scored 19 for the Hope team.
