Mineral Springs School Board approves lease agreement with the City of Mineral Springs
Monday night, the Mineral Springs School Board met for their regular monthly meeting.
Board members approved the milk and food bids along with a lease agreement with the City of Mineral Springs for the use of the baseball and softball fields at the Mineral Springs City Park.
According to Superintendent Billy Lee, if the city approves the lease, the district will spend approximately $50,000 to update the baseball and softball facilities at the city park. He said they will build seating for fans, re-build the backstops with netting, construct new dugouts, install new scoreboards and place fencing so the district can charge admission.
Elementary principal Ruby Dean reported the elementary experienced a 5 percent improvement in test scores in both, math and reading.
Dean reported the elementary campus has added additional programs like MI Write to help students with the reading assessment portion of the test and Illustrative Math.
Dean said the elementary also hopes to improve their Index score, which was an F last year. She also said they would celebrate even the smallest improvement.
Dean said she hopes more parental and community involvement will help students continue to make progress on their test scores.
