Murfreesboro Woman Arrested for Theft and Forgery After Passing Stolen Check
On August 9th, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Murfreesboro Police Chief Randy Lamb responded to a report of a stolen check at Branch Oil.
According to the affidavit, Chief Lamb was informed that a check, valued at $81.24, had been fraudulently passed at the store on August 6th. The check, which belonged to a man out of Murfreesboro, had been reported stolen.
Upon investigation, Chief Lamb interviewed the cashier who accepted the check. The cashier identified the suspect as Vicki Sue Teel, 56, of Murfreesboro, based on a photo from the Pike County Jail website. The cashier recalled that Teel had visited Branch Oil between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on August 6th.
Reviewing the store’s security footage, Lamb observed Teel entering Branch Oil at approximately 5:28 p.m. The video showed her making a purchase using the stolen check after filling it out.
The gentleman later revealed that Teel had accompanied him to Hot Springs and had taken the check from his truck without his knowledge. He discovered the theft when he checked his account.
Teel was arrested and booked into Pike County Jail on charges of theft of property and forgery in the second degree.
