Nashville City Council

Residents of Nashville’s Ridgeway Addition met with the city council Monday to voice concerns over property that joins their neighborhood.  Shane Reeder & Connie Castleberry spoke on behalf of their residential area.  Of concern is 34 acres of land that separates the Ridgeway, Blakely & Wildwood additions.  The property currently consists of timber & is in a sizable ravine.  Reeder & Castleberry told council members they’ve heard the property is for sale & are concerned about any new owners harvesting timber off the site that would lead to the log trucks damaging the street and creating a hazard for motorists on Mine Street.  The citizens also expressed concern about impacts this would have on the wildlife habitat, the environment, run off & erosion, as well as a possible negative impact on property values.

Mayor Billy Ray Jones said there really isn’t anything city officials can do in the matter and suggested property owners get together and by the acreage to protect their property boundaries.
