NSD School Board approves handbook changes for the 2023-2024 School Year
Monday during the Nashville School Board meeting, Superintendent Doug Graham discussed the PPC model policy section four. This section covered a number of topics like students, residency requirements, absences, school choice, and expulsion. Graham stated that absences will be in a combination of 8, whether it’s excused or unexcused.
There was a motion made by board members Jerry Wilson and seconded by Jamar Finley to accept Graham’s recommendation to approve the model school policy for section four. All were in favor of the motion.
Next, each principal presented handbook changes for the 2023-2024 school year.
NPS Assistant Principal Hannah Topor discussed some of the handbook changes for Nashville Primary School.
NES Principal Tyra Hughes presented handbook changes for the Nashville Elementary School.
NJHS Principal Krystal Parker presented the handbook changes for Nashville Junior High.
NHS Principal Ashley Riggs also talked about the handbook changes for Nashville High School.
There was a motion made by board members David Hilliard and seconded by Jamar Finley to approve the handbook changes as presented.
Graham also made a recommendation to set aside $40,000 in the district’s budget, $25,000 of that would go to the Primary School and the remaining $15,000 would go to the Elementary School to purchase school supplies to make it easier for parents as they prepare for the upcoming school year. Board Member David Hilliard made a motion which was seconded by Jerry Wilson to approve the $40,000 in the budget for school supplies for the 2023-2024 school year. All were in favor of those motions.
