Pike County Revenue Shortfall
Pike County is expecting revenue for its general operating expenses to be about $200,000 dollars less than projected for this year. The sizeable decline is the result of state inmates not being held at the county jail. Sheriff/Collector Travis Hill said the reduction of inmates has been done as a safety precaution to minimize an outbreak of the carona virus in the jail. However, state inmates who have been housed at another facility for more than 14 days are now being allowed into the Pike County Jail to help cut the projected downfall in half.
During their brief Monday evening August meeting, Pike County j.p.’s formally issued their support to a Glenwood business for application of the Tax Back program, which was created in 2003. Justice Johnny Plyer of Glenwood stated the county had previously approved the same thing in 2014 for expansion of the treatment plant. All nine justices voted in favor of the motion.
