Pursuit that started in Hempstead County ends in Texas

A Louisville, Kentucky man was apprehended Friday night following a police pursuit that began in southwest Arkansas and ended nearly 150 miles later in north central Texas. Authorities say they initially attempted to stop 31 year old Mohammedali Ahmedin in connection with a hit and run accident near Hope. During the westbound pursuit along Interstate 30, Ahmedin, who was driving a Freightliner semi truck, was also accused of striking an Arkansas State Police vehicle with his semi.
Arkansas State Police were joined in the pursuit by Texas Department of Safety troopers, as well as numerous county officers, as the pursuit moved from Arkansas to Texas. Police deployed spike strips at several locations along the way.
The pursuit finally ended in Cumby, Texas, when the Freightliner crashed. The pursuit ended less than 70 miles from Dallas.
Ahmedin was transported to the Hopkins County, Texas Detention facility.
Friday’s pursuit began around 6:45 and ended shortly after nine p.m.
