Scrappers advance in Ralph Gross Memorial Tournament

For a second consecutive game, the Nashville Scrapper baseball team has won in a 17 to nothing shutout. The latest win came Thursday night over Fouke in the opening round of the Ralph Gross Memorial Tournament. Nashville did all their scoring with 7 runs in the second inning and 10 more coming in the third. Scrapper pitchers Will Pope and Kaleb Halter combined to pitch the shutout, allowing Fouke batters to reach base on just one hit in the contest.
Offensively for the Scrappers, Pope, Aiden Smith and Ty Gordon each had two hits for Nashville.
In yesterday’s other first round games at the tournament, Magnolia defeated Redwater, Texas 18 to 2 and Ashdown was a nine to 7 winner over Vilonia.
Today’s three game tournament schedule includes Vilonia playing Fouke at 1 o’clock, Mayflower plays Warren at 3:30 and Nashville takes on Ashdown this evening at six o’clock.
Five more tournament games will be played throughout the day Saturday.
