Southwest Arkansas Industry Partial Shutdown

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have wide ranging impacts on the business community.

Officials at South Carolina based Domtar announced yesterday that a portion of their Ashdown mill operations will be temporarily shut down due to the pandemic. Company officials say the A62 paper machine operations will be shut down during a three month period.

142 employees are to be affected by the shutdown.

Domtar says the temporary shutdown is being made because offices, businesses and schools, representing a sizable portion of the customer base, remain shut down by the virus.

Domtar says it regrets the impact the three month closure will have on the affected employees and their families and will do everything possible to support them.
