Stabbing and robbery reported at Road Mart in Nashville, Sunday morning

Nashville police say a local resident was arrested following a stabbing incident and robbery at Road Mart early Sunday morning. Police Chief Amy Marion said officers were dispatched to a West Clark Street residence regarding the stabbing just after two o’clock Sunday morning. When police arrived, they were told that 24 year old Rashad Garland of Nashville, had stabbed an individual. Both Garland and the victim left the scene prior to police arriving. While officers were searching the area for both individuals, another call of an armed robbery at Road Mart was received. Chief Marion said a store clerk reported the robbery at 2:19 Sunday morning, telling police the suspect was armed with a knife and demanded she open the register. The physical description provided by the clerk matched the suspect in the stabbing. Officers said when the suspect saw them coming, he ran from the store. Garland was apprehended in a nearby car wash parking lot without incident. He is being held in the Howard County Jail, awaiting a first appearance on charges of Aggravated Robbery and Second Degree Battery. Chief Marion said the victim in the stabbing was treated and released from Howard Memorial Hospital.
