Survey results of the hybrid year-round calendar vs the traditional calendar for NSD

Last week, patrons of the Nashville School District were invited to take a survey concerning the proposed school calendar for the 2024-2025 school year.

District patrons were asked to select their preference between the traditional school calendar and a hybrid year-round calendar.

The results from the stakeholders survey revealed 56 percent of the district patrons voted in favor of the hybrid year-round calendar with 44 percent voting for the traditional calendar.

A total of 1,211 votes were cast. Six hundred and seventy-six votes were for the hybrid calendar and 535 votes were for the traditional calendar.

The new school year under a hybrid year-calendar begins with a first day of school in July and the last day will be in June with several breaks ranging from 1-day a month to 9-days a month.

And, there are the same number of students days for the hybrid year-round calendar and the traditional calendar.

District officials hope the hybrid calendar will promote less student and teacher absenteeism and improve test scores.

The Nashville Board of Education will meet tonight at 5:30 in the administration building.
