SWEPCO hosting public meetings over rate hike proposal
The Arkansas Public Service Commission has scheduled a public comment hearing for Southwestern Electric Power Co.’s application for new rates.
A hearing will be held tonight at 6 p.m. On the Ashdown campus of UA Cossatot Campus. UA Cossatot is located at 1411 North Constitution Avenue in Ashdown.
On July 23, 2021, SWEPCO submitted a request to the APSC to update SWEPCO’s non-fuel base rates. The energy provider said it is seeking to recover environmental and resiliency costs associated with providing customers cleaner and more reliable energy.
The request includes recent investments in transmission and distribution facilities, and reflects costs to operate and maintain equipment that delivers power to customers. It would establish new tariffs for electric vehicles, lighting and other measures.
SWEPCO’s rate increase in Texas has already been approved.
SWEPCO serves approximately 123,000 customers in Arkansas. For more information on SWEPCO’s request, visit swepco.com/ArkansasRates.
