The Dierks School approves the 2024-2025 school calendar

The Dierks School Board voted to approve option 3 as the 2024-2025 school calendar along with the renewal of all certified staff for the 2024-2025 school year, as per the salary schedule at their regular monthly meeting Monday night.  The board also approved the transfer of one student out of the district and to accept the resignation of Raisa Whisenhunt special education teacher, which will be effective at the end of the school year.

Current enrollment at the JoAnn Walters Elementary School is 282. There were no drops or adds this month. According to Principal Craig Dodson’s report consultant visits are occurring presently and curriculum samples have been ordered for review. Dodson stated that the staff is taking a close look at the iReady Math curriculum because it is directly tied to the assessment and interventions. Dodson said the 1st ATLAS test was a success throughout the building and only 1 student is yet to test. 

Enrollment at the Dierks High School is 242 students. All students at DHS have completed the ATLAS Writing test. It was also reported that testing went very well, and the students seemed very comfortable navigating the new testing platform. The ACT is scheduled for March 27th for 10th and 11th grade students. The test will be a digital format and the 11th grade scores will be used for their state reporting. Students’ 7th through 10th grade will finish up their ATLAS testing in Reading, Math, and Science the week of April 16th through the 19th. In conclusion, DHS staff are utilizing their contracted days a little differently with the Bailey Group. The focus areas will be instructional vision, instructional observations, lesson planning, lesson targets, vertical alignment, and curriculum.
