Two Murfreesboro residents arrested and charged with Forgery
Two Murfreesboro residents have been arrested for allegedly attempting to use counterfeit money. City officers began their investigation after it was reported a fake $100 dollar bill was attempting to be used at a business. Police reports say when the cashier identified the money as being counterfeit, she handed it back to the individual, who then left the store in a pickup. As police were finishing up their investigation at the business, officers said they noticed a truck, matching the suspect’s vehicle description, pulling into another business across the street. Police conducted a traffic stop and said the truck was occupied by 57 year Patrick Hughes and 51 year old Monica Dowdle, both of Murfreesboro. As authorities searched the vehicle for additional counterfeit money, they say a clear plastic bag, containing suspected marijuana, and two additional counterfeit $100 dollar bills were located in Dowdle’s purse. She has been charged with a felony count of First Degree Forgery and a misdemeanor charge of possessing a controlled substance.
Hughes is charged with a felony count of First Degree Forgery.
