Covid-19 Scams Going On In Arkansas

There are a couple of new scams already circulating that pertain to COVID-19.

The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management is alerting state residents to the possibility of you being contacted by someone offering to sell tests you can perform at home to see if you have the corona virus. These tests do not exist.

Yesterday, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge issued an alert about scammers impersonating government officials and reaching out to Arkansans by phone, email or social media demanding the victims’ personal and banking information to verify their eligibility for the government’s proposed stimulus check.

Individuals are reminded to never give personal information over the telephone or by email. Arkansas residents encountering someone demanding personal information to receive federal funds or other assistance should immediately contact the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office by calling 1-800-482-8982.
