Legacy Junior Teams Win Big in Hope

Legacy Academy’s two junior high teams and their senior high girls traveled to Hope Tuesday evening for HCAA conference play against Garrett Memorial Christian School. It was a big night for the junior high teams from Lockesburg, as they both secured wins. The Lady Warriors senior girls fell to the Lady Saints. Garrett forfeited, instead of playing, the senior boys’ game.

The junior Lady Warriors defeated the home team 30-11. Libbie Bartek provided 18 of the team’s 30 points! Jesse Martz grabbed 19 boards for the Lockesburg team. Five players all added baskets to the wining score for the team. Legacy’s Junior Boys’ team secured a huge win with a small bench tonight. Playing with only six players total the junior boys defeated the Hope team 66-16. Manolo Vazquez scored an astounding 35 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for a double-double night. He also had 8 assist. Silas Lofton score 11 and Jude Gallagher 8. Gallagher had 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
In Senior girl action, the 1A Lady Warriors faced an uphill battle with last year’s HCAA 2A champions. The Lady Warriors fell to a strong Lady Saints team 74-56. The Lady Saints well outpaced the Lockesburg girls 26-10 in the first quarter. The Lady Warriors stayed bucket for bucket the remainder of the game with equal scoring in the following three quarters but simply couldn’t overcome the whole from the first period. Sophomore Oaklee Lofton scored 26 points for Legacy, while Senior Dori Bartek gave the team 16. Bartek also led with six rebounds.
Senior Boys and Junior Boys travel to Magnolia Friday to play Columbia Christian. Next week, the boys take on Ambassador Christian at home on Monday, while both senior boys and girls play Eagletown on the road on Friday. Junior High boys will participate in the Dierks’ junior tournament next week, meeting Caddo Hills first on the bracket on Wednesday.
