Delight man arrested for domestic battery

On Friday November 10th, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call that was in regard to a domestic occurring at 94 Strawberry Rd in Delight. 

According to the affidavit, the suspect 29-year-old Derenzo Preston of Delight had taken a glass bottle and allegedly hit Tracy Stone in her face while she was in the bathroom. Stone reportedly informed officers that when she and Preston had left the bathroom and went into the bedroom, Preston began to hit her face again. Pike County Deputy Bret Reid reported that he noticed some bruising and swelling around Stone’s right eye.

According to the witness’ statement Preston even started going towards her like he was going to hit her but ended up going back to hitting Stone and dragging her. Preston was taken into custody and transported to the Pike County Jail. Preston was charged with domestic battery in the 3rd degree, which is considered a Class A misdemeanor, and is punishable by up to one year in jail and up to $2500 fine.
