Mineral Springs School District Board Meeting

Monday, the Mineral Springs School Board held their regular monthly meeting.

During the meeting Superintendent Billy Lee presented a letter from Farmer’s Bank. According to the letter, Farmers Bank plans are to make bigger contributions to the district and in order for that to happen the district would have to change banks. Farmers Bank even guaranteed the Mineral Springs School District $200,000 and if the market stays the same over the 10 year lifespan, the district is guaranteed another $200,000 dollars. Farmers Bank also stated that if the Mineral Springs School District decides to consider the change, the district can move their CDs along with making Farmers Bank their sole bank. Lee stated that Tyson’s, Buddy’s, and Bee’s Convenience Store gave $25,000 dollars each as a donation towards the projects. There was a motion made by William Dixon and seconded by Ray Hawkins to change over from Diamond State Bank to Farmers Bank. All were in favor of the motion.

The board also accepted a motion to approve the 2023-2024 salary schedule, the school choice forms, and the co-op resolution. The board also approved hiring Rhonda Conway as the new K-6th grade Special Education Teacher, Tara Green as Special Ed Aide, Shanell Scoggins as Cafeteria Director, and Natasha Scroggins as a Cafeteria Worker.
