City continues to solar power project on Old Center Point Road

The city of Nashville has dealt with yet another financial issue pertaining to the solar panel array that is scheduled to benefit the city for about 20 to 25 years.  According to Public Works Director Larry Dunaway, the latest glitch is due to an underestimate on some costs related to SWEPCO:

City officials say yesterday’s council action was really their only choice.  Had the city decided to drop the project entirely, Nashville would likely face a lawsuit.

Monday’s council vote on the matter was 10 to 1, with alderman Joe Hoen, who has stated his opposition to the project since it was first proposed, casting the only dissenting vote.

In another vote related to the solar project, council members also voted to approve the purchase price of $80,000 for the piece of land on the Old Center Point Road, where the solar array will be situated.
