City of Dierks applies for CARES Act funds

The city of Dierks has received one bid on a piece of property its trying to sell. During Monday’s December city council meeting, aldermen voted to authorize Mayor Ronnie Cogburn to negotiate with the bidder, as the submitted bid was below the property’s appraised value. City officials say the acreage was donated to the city by Weyerhaeuser. The property is a gravel pit, however, anyone purchasing the property from the city, must agree to not sell gravel from the site.
It was also announced Monday that the city of Dierks has submitted paperwork in order to receive CARES Act funds. The city has applied for $44,886.91 cents. If successfully received, the money would be used for the town’s police department for COVID-19 related expenses.
