COVID hospitalizations on the rise in Southwest Arkansas

Tuesday night, Howard Memorial Hospital CFO, Bill Craig reported the hospital had a net income profit of over $152,000. Craig stated outpatient visits and surgical procedures were above budget. He also discussed three revenue sources that contributed to the hospital’s positive financial standing.

CEO Debra Wright reported Southwest Arkansas ranks third in the Arkansas regions behind the Metro-Little Rock area and Northeast Arkansas.

Wright announced the hospital was considering a new contractor for the conversion of ED rooms to negative-pressure rooms. She said the new bid was about $30,000 less than the previous bids.

Wright also reported the hospital plans to move forward with the in-room telemedicine project.
