Dierks School Board Approves SRO as Classified Position

The Dierks School Board has approved the School Resource Officer to be a classified position within the district. Last week, Superintendent Jody Cowart visited with the Dierks City Council regarding the officer’s position. The officer will continue using city equipment for the job and the city will make sure the officer’s certification requirements are met.
As a classified personnel, the S.R.O. will work 178 days a school year.
As the Dierks School District gears up for school next week, Lindsey Stokes has been appointed as the district’s Point of Contact Person related to COVID-19. She will be compensated at the “RN as needed” basis of $25.50 per hour.
Superintendent Jody Cowart reported the district has received CARES Act funding for the purchase of 35 hot spots, and told board members the elementary construction project is on schedule.
The board also approved three student transfers from The De Queen School District.
