MBIC Representative speaks at Howard County Quorum Court

Members of the Howard County Quorum Court held their regular monthly meeting yesterday.

During the meeting, Associate Project Manager Aviation Designer of the Michael Baker International Company, Matthew Roddy presented to the JPs an overview about the estimated cost to put six airport storage hangers at the Airport in Nashville and how to get grant funding. Roddy said this would be a great opportunity for the city of Nashville now that funds are available. To be on the NPIAS or National plan of integrated airport systems’ list for funding the airport has to have a total of 10 based aircrafts. Roddy stated that Nashville is no longer on the list, so his goal was to get Howard County back on the list for funding. The total construction cost is 1.3 million dollars which would give a million dollars in grant funding and the county’s portion of that would be $328,709.77.

Justices of the Peace approved a motion to pay the $328,709.77 portion out of the Contingency Fund.

In other business, Emergency Management Coordinator Roddy Smith Jr. updated the quorum about the radio system that was recently installed.

In conclusion, County Treasurer Sheri Mixon reported that there was $1,494,237.67 in the General Reserve Fund and $2,211,131.25 in the American Rescue Plan. Justices of the Peace approved a motion to accept the financial report.
