Mineral Springs City Council January Meeting

The Mineral Springs City Council is considering a lease option for a sanitation truck. Currently the city owns two trash trucks. Recently, several repairs have been necessary so the council is looking into the lease option. Officials say the city could lease a trash truck at a cost of two thousand dollars per month. The only upkeep required would be normal serving such as keeping the oil changed. Under the lease agreement a new trash truck would be provided to the city every three years.

In other business at Monday’s January meeting aldermen discussed the future of the city pond which is now leaking. Options being considered include making repairs and asking the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to stock the pond or to drain the water and fill in the hole. No action was taken and the matter was tabled.

A one time 200 dollar incentive bonus was approved for water superintendent Jonathan Holden who has improved his license from Class One to Class Four and the council raised the pay of police patrolman Jonathan Dykes to 30 thousand dollars a year after graduating from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy last year.
