Nashville City Council Meets In January Session

Several complaints regarding the number of vehicles and auto parts that are visible along Nashville’s Main Street are drawing the attention of the Nashville City Council. At Monday’s January meeting, aldermen discussed at great length what can be done to make the central business district look better. Mayor Billy Ray Jones told council members he receives weekly complaints about the appearance of repair shops along Main Street. As the mayor and Code Enforcement Officer David Riggs began looking into possible action that could be taken, it was discovered the city’s nearly 50 year old ordinances were somewhat outdated and conflicting. After some lengthy discussion Monday night, council members voted to ask city attorney Aaron Brasel to create an ordinance can enforce. Council members will review the proposed changes next month.
