Nashville Park and Recreation calls special meeting concerning gate fees

Recently the Nashville Parks and Recreation Commission held a special called meeting.

During the meeting, they discussed the gate fee regarding the baseball and softball league. Members of the Softball Association and Baseball Commission spoke out about the previous vote to charge a $2 gate fee at league softball and baseball games for the 2024 season as well as season passes for $25. Hannah Topor who is a representative of the Softball Association recommended to up the maintenance fee that they currently pay from $600 dollars to $1000 dollars instead of paying a gate fee for softball.

Justin Kinkade and John McAdams of the Baseball Commission suggested keeping the fees for some maintenance repairs and updates needed at the fields. Park and Recreation Director Meghan Floyd stated that she prepared several reports on the expense and revenue on the field’s upkeep and how much they make on league softball, baseball, and concessions.

After further discussion, board members voted to repeal the motion to gate fee from the last meeting. They concluded the meeting by approving the $1000 dollars from the Softball Association and to raise all sports registration fees to $75 dollars starting with soccer and flag football.
