Nashville Scrapperettes defeats the Camden Fairview Lady Cardinals

Tuesday, the Nashville Scrappers and Scrapperettes Varsity Basketball teams traveled to Camden to play against the Camden Fairview Cardinals in their first 7-4A conference game of the season. 

During the first quarter of the girls’ game, the Scrapperettes went toe to toe with the Lady Cardinals trailing by 1 point, 14 to 13. The Scrapperettes would dominate in the second quarter adding 19 points to the board, leading the Lady Cardinals 32 to 19. The Scrapperettes then scored back-to-back shots in the third quarter and were up by 25 points, making the score 64 to 29. The Lady Cardinals outscored the Scrapperettes in the 4th quarter but couldn’t catch up and the final score was 68 to 42. Juniors: Caroline Dean, Shalyn Lyle, and Jessie Lyle finished with 15 points each. Sophomore Lyris Bennett finished with 13 points. 

The Scrapperettes are now 9 and 4 overall and 1 and 0 in conference.
In boys’ sports action, the first quarter started off with the Cardinals putting 22 points on the board to the Scrappers 13.  In the second quarter the Scrappers scored 10 extra points and concluded the first half 34 to 23. In the third quarter the Scrappers trailed the Cardinals by 14 points and the score was 51 to 37. The Scrappers tried to make a comeback in the 4th quarter, but the Cardinals defeated the Scrappers 69 to 52. The Scrappers are now 5 and 2 overall and 0 and 1 in Conference. 

Tonight, both senior teams will be hosting the Ashdown Panthers at the Scrapper Arena starting. The first game will start at 6pm.
