Pike County Quorum Court

Justices of the Peace of Pike County held their regular monthly meeting Monday night.

During the meeting, Pike County Clerk Randee Reid read a resolution that was in regard to increasing the County Judge’s Visa Credit Card limit to $1,000 to $10,000. This request was due to the increasing attendance of meetings and equipment purchases which has left the card maxed out forcing the judge to pay motel costs out of pocket and request reimbursement. There was a 7 to 0 vote to adopt the resolution as read.

Reid read another resolution that allowed the county to apply for an amazon business account through the state. This account would allow the county to save money on shipping costs and also receive state discounts on bulk supplies. JPs approved a motion to adopt that resolution as read.

According to Treasurer Loletia Rather’s report for the month of May, County General had a beginning balance of $1,421,339.29 and an ending balance of $1,486,796.15. County Road had a beginning balance of $789,025.17 and an ending balance of $745,445.87. Landfill had a beginning balance of $1,079,825.60 and an ending balance of $1,108,765.86. Justices of the peace approved a motion to accept Treasurer Rather’s report.

Another item that was on the agenda at the meeting was the reading of an appropriation ordinance that was in regard to 2 additional full time law enforcement officer salary stipends in accordance with act 224 of the 2022 fiscal session of the Arkansas Legislature and to amend the annual operating budget. After several motions were passed, Justices of the peace approved a final motion to approve the appropriation ordinance as presented.
