Rex Nelson was keynote speaker at Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce banquet

Rex Nelson, the senior editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette was the keynote speaker of the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce banquet.

Nelson stated Arkansas could once again be the Land of Opportunity during the post-pandemic society as people get back to nature and move away from the east and west coasts.

He said communities outside Northwest Arkansas, the Little Rock metro-area and Jonesboro would need to play to their strengths if they wanted to see their population and economy grow in this new area. He explained Murfreesboro as great potential because of the diamond mine and Lake Greeson. Nelson said Murfreesboro also had good restaurants, cool shops, a revitalized downtown, good schools and outdoor activities.

Jonathon Lance has been hired as the new executive director of the Murfreesboro Advertising and Tourism Committee.

The new chamber president is Lisa Harvill.
