UPDATE: Suspect Apprehended – SCSO searching for person of interest following weekend shooting

The suspect was seen at a residence on Central Road in Horatio. She fled on foot, but was apprehended by the Sevier County Sheriff’s office.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate a woman for questioning over her involvement with a shooting on Sunday that left another woman hospitalized. According to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the Sevier County Medical Center on Feb. 5 in reference to a 57-year-old woman who was being treated for a gunshot wound to her head. After further investigation, authorities received a search warrant to search the home belonging to the victim. Special agents with the Arkansas State Police, along with deputies and investigators of the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, executed the search warrant and collected evidence related to the incident.

Authorities say an individual is being sought for questioning at this time for her involvement in the incident. The person of interest has been identified as 28-year-old Kaylee Cornet.

The case remains under investigation. Neither the identity of the victim nor her medical status is being released at this time in an effort to protect her while the shooter remains at large.
