Sunday Storms Cause Area Power Outages

Southern Arkansas missed out on the tornadoes experienced in northern Louisiana and parts of Mississippi Sunday but late afternoon storms brought a significant amount of wind damage. Numerous trees were damaged by the straight lines.

Electrical services also took a big hit as many people were without electricity following the storms.

While there were outages in all area counties, Pike and Hempstead counties had the most. Each reported two thousand or more customers without electricity.

Nearly all customers in Montgomery and Clark counties were without electrical services at one point.
