Traffic stop resulted in drug arrest

On February 26th Officer Micah Brown of the Murfreesboro Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired tags. According to the affidavit, Officer Brown approached the driver side of the vehicle and asked the driver for his driver license, insurance, and registration. The driver was identified as 59-year-old Wyatt Stephens of Nashville. It was reported that Stephens told Brown that he only had an ID.

As reported, after running Wyatt’s information Officer Brown asked to search Wyatt’s person for any weapons and nothing was found. Officer Brown reportedly gave Wyatt permission to receive his drink and chips out of the vehicle and noticed that the bag was open. Brown retrieved the bag from Wyatt, opened it and noticed a round like object wrapped in electrical tape. Wyatt confessed that it was methamphetamine. Wyatt was arrested and transported to the Pike County Jail. While at the jail Officer Brown reportedly took the tape off and inside was a clear plastic bag containing a white crystal-like substance. Wyatt was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended, and expired tags.
