Tragic accident kills good Samaritan, two others in Little River County

A two-vehicle accident tragically claimed the lives of three people in Little River County last Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Arkansas State Police, a 2023 Toyota Tundra was traveling south on U.S. Highway 71 when it struck a 2017 transit van that was stopped on the west shoulder of the highway. The fatal accident report stated that the driver stopped his van on the shoulder of the highway and exited the vehicle to assist another stopped motorist with changing a flat tire.

The driver was walking around the rear of the van when the Toyota traveled into the right shoulder and struck the man and his vehicle. He was identified as Christopher Robinson, 34, of New Boston, Texas. The state police said the good Samartian was killed when he was struck by the Toyota. Two people inside the Toyota Tundra were also killed when they struck the van. The victims were identified as 61-year-old Carrie Flynn of Shreveport Louisiana and 65-year-old John Hucke also of Shreveport. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, listed as a 34-year-old Shreveport man, was injured and taken to Christus St. Michael’s in Texarkana for treatment.

The investigating state trooper reported road conditions as clear and dry at the time of the accident.
