Umpire campus topic of discussion during Cossatot River School Board meeting tonight

The Cossatot River School Board has a meeting planned for six o’clock this evening.  Information released ahead of the meeting says the topic will concern finances for the Umpire campus in the past few years.

Today’s meeting will be held in the cafeteria at the Vandervoort Elementary School.  Parents who have children attending the Umpire campus are encouraged to attend.

During the January meeting of the Cossatot River School Board, members voted 6 to 1 to restructure the Cossatot River elementary campuses.

Superintendent Tyler Tyler Broyles recommended, the district move all K through 2nd graders to the Vandervoort campus and rename it the Cossatot River Primary School and all of the third through sixth graders to the Wickes campus and name it the Cossatot River Elementary School.

Broyles said the change was a compromise among several other options and would pave the way to more progress in the future. He said it would strengthen the district’s academics by providing more aligned curriculum and more collaboration among staff within the same grade levels.

Broyles also stated it would provide more financial stability.
