Hempstead Woman facing charges after abducting a child

On February 28, Nashville Police Officer David Shelby was assisting the Howard County Sheriff’s Office in searching for a vehicle that was possibly involved in a child abduction call from Hempstead County.

According to the affidavit, the vehicle was located at a residence on Sunset Street in Nashville.

Officer Shelby checked the vehicle and while standing by the vehicle, Shelby noticed a child matching the description of the missing child open the blinds. The child was removed from the home and placed into the custody of the Department of Human Services.

The suspect, Murrya Killip was taken into custody.

Killip told officers she had borrowed the truck from a friend. When the owner of the truck arrived, he asked for the keys. Killip told officer’s that the keys were in her purse beside the bed where she was sleeping.

When Officer Shelby reached for the keys, he noticed a clear plastic bag containing a crystal like substance, believed to be methamphetamine. He also found a plastic container with suspected marijuana.

Killip was charged with 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance in Howard County. She’ll be facing additional charges in Hempstead County.
