Friday Night Lights in the local area

This week, all of the area teams will be competing on the gridiron with Nashville hosting Hope, Dierks hosting Horatio, Mineral Springs at Fouke and Murfreesboro at Bearden.

This week, we spoke with all four of the head coaches about this week’s matchups.

Nashville coach Mike Volarvich invited all area Scrapper fans to come out tonight to Scrapper Stadium and enjoy all of the recent improvements, including the new lights and scoreboard.

Volarvich also mentioned Hope has a lot of returning starters from last year’s team.

The Scrappers and the Bobcats will kickoff at 7:30 pm at Scrapper Stadium.

The Dierks Outlaws will host the Horatio Lions and Dierks head coach Paul Ernest mentioned his keys to an Outlaw victory.

Mineral Springs was scheduled to host the Fouke Panthers tonight, but delays on the renovations to Hornet Stadium forced the game to be moved to Fouke.

Mineral Springs is ranked the number one team in 2A football, but both teams are 1 and 0 after last week’s games.

Mineral Springs head coach Jason Hathcock said rankings this early in the season don’t mean anything.

And, the Murfreesboro Rattlers will open their season tonight on the road at Bearden.

Murfreesboro head coach Brad Chesshir said he feels his team is prepared for the start of the season.

The 7-2A games will all kickoff at 7 pm.
