Howard County traffic stop leads to drug arrest

On September 24th, Howard County Deputy Jake Eudy stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 70 and Highway 278 intersections in Howard County.

As Eudy approached the vehicle, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Eudy stated that he began to speak with the passenger.

The passenger was identified as 42 year old Thomas Pearce of Fouke. 

While Pearce was emptying his pockets, he pulled out a clear glass smoke pipe. Eudy asked Pearce where the drugs were located. Pearce told him it was inside of a phone case. 

Eudy opened the case and discovered a clear small plastic baggy containing a crystal-like substance that was believed to be methamphetamine. Eudy also found two glass smoke pipes inside a lunch box belonging to Pearce.

Pearce was arrested for Possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
