Prison Terms Handed Down In Local Cases

A Hempstead County resident has been sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections due to violating terms of his probation. 41 year old Corey Stewart of Washington was originally charged in 2015 with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Howard County. Authorities say he later violated the terms of his probation and as a result was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison. Stewart was also fined a thousand dollars.

A prison term was also given yesterday in one other case. 43 year old John Mark Cox of Nashville was sentenced to four years in the department of corrections on charges of possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.
