Scrapperettes end spring break with Be Elite Softball Bash championships

With spring break now over, spring sports for area schools will begin a busy schedule today through the end of the school year.  The Scrapper baseball team is currently scheduled to play three games this week, with a non-conference road game against El Dorado that will be played at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.

Friday afternoon, the Nashville Scrapperette varsity and junior varsity teams went 2-0 during the Be Elite Softball Bash in Magnolia to earn both pool play championships.

The varsity Scrapperettes defeated the host team Magnolia 14-0 in 5-innings.

Mattison Steele was the winning pitcher. She gave up no runs on one hit, while striking out seven batters.

Ashley Chambers was 1 for three at the plate, however she scored two runs and had 2-RBIs.  Emma Hutchinson was 2 for 3 with a single and a 2-run home run. Ellen Spigner was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Maggie Campbell was 3 for 3 with a run scored and 2 RBIs.

The junior varsity Scrapperettes defeated Genoa Central 20-7 in 7- innings.

Nancy Worthington gave up 7 runs on 10 hits in 7-innings of work.

17 members of the Scrapperette JV softball team made plate appearances. The Scrapperettes scored 1 run in the second, five in the third, six in the fifth, one in the sixth and seven in the seventh.

The Scrapperettes will play Arkadelphia this Tuesday and Taylor on Thursday.
