Traffic stop in Howard County leads to drug arrest

On June 24th, Howard County Deputy Aaron Quick conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired tags. According to the affidavit, Quick was assisted by Hempstead County Deputies Eric Garner and Marla Gullion. After deputies ran the driver and the passenger through the Howard County Dispatch, Quick was advised that the driver who was identified as 91-year-old Alan Bohannon of Hope had a search waiver on file. 

As reported, After Quick had all the occupants step out of the vehicle, Quick conducted a search on the vehicle. While Deputy Garner searched the passenger side, he confiscated a container in a cigarette pack that contained suspected methamphetamine. It was reported that the passenger who was identified as 61-year-old Barbara G Rael of Ashdown allegedly confessed to the deputies that the cigarette pack was hers. Deputies also located a zip lock baggie containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in Rael’s backpack, several marijuana grinders and smoking pipes, along with several meth-smoking pipes in her wallet.

Rael and Bohannon were placed under arrest and transported to the Howard County Jail. Bohannon and Rael were charged with possession of methamphetamine with the purpose to deliver and drug paraphernalia.
